Salvador de bahia – 8th of January 2017
Around new year’s eve we often hear talking about resolutions, that constantly are being disappointed after a few weeks.
I was thinking about the importance of rituals.
It’s what I learnt from the dances of african origins and from the traditions of south american shamans and from my studies and readings, but also from catholic ceremonies in a way. As to say: giving an intention to my gestures and movements so that dance can be transformed into life and life into dance. So that everything acquires more sense, a sense of personal and subjective sacrality.
So this year I did not have any clear idea about my resolutions and wishes, but I tried to leave behind me the negative things of 2016, by writing them roughly on a piece of paper, I burnt them, and left the ashes in the ocean waters and then…puff! The void. Breath. Slow down.
In this marvellous town that is Salvador de Bahia, among millions of people and with friends, at the beach, I bought fresh white roses, I offered my dance and my flowers to the sea waters (and to the yoruba Goddess of the sea Iemanjá) for the ones I love. Then I added the last ingredient: the brasilian tradition of jumping 7 waves et voilà.
Nothing less, nothing more. “From Bahia to the ones I love!”.
And my thought is making its own journey, an open thought. An open hug.
I believe that rituals are important because they reconnect us with the elements of nature (fire, water, earth, air, winds, trees, wood…) and so with our soul, with our deepest and wisest part of ourselves.
Recipy for your own little ritual: go out in the nature, write and burn old shit that you want to let go, leave the ashes in an element and breathe! Allow the VOID and create art or almostart. Write, paint, sing, dance, draw a mandala, with your key words for the new year and let them free in the nature. Just for the fun to become more authentic and wild and be willing to change.
Then on the first of January I went to Daniela Mercury’s concert and Gulp! she’s a wild beast! Such a huge and immense artist!
My artist’s way is still long… 🙂 Sigh!

Verso Capodanno si parla tanto di buoni propositi, che vengono puntualmente smentiti e disattesi dopo qualche settimana.
Riflettevo sull’importanza dei rituali.
E’ quello che ho imparato dalle danze di matrice africana e dagli sciamani del sud america e dai miei studi, ricerche e letture, ma anche dalle cerimonie cattoliche. Cioè dare un’intenzione ai miei gesti, ai miei movimenti in modo che la danza si trasformi in vita e la vita in danza. E tutto acquisti più senso, un senso di sacralità personale e soggettivo.
Così quest’anno mi sono ritrovata senza le idee così chiare in merito ai miei desideri di inizio anno, ma ho cercato di fare il vuoto delle cose negative del 2016, scribacchiandole su un foglio e poi bruciandolo e lasciando le ceneri nell’acqua di mare e poi…puff! Vuoto. Respiro. Fermarsi.
In questa meraviglia che è Salvador de Bahia (la baia di tutti i santi), in mezzo a migliaia di persone e con amici, in spiaggia, ho comprato rose bianche, ho danzato ed ho lasciato i fiori nel mare (e se vogliamo alla Dea yoruba del mare Iemanjá) per coloro che amo. Poi ho aggiunto un altro ingrediente: il tradizionale salto di sette onde (qualcuna in più per sicurezza) et voilà.
Niente di più, niente di meno. “Dalla Bahia a coloro che amo”. “From Bahia to the ones I love”.
E il pensiero fa il suo viaggio, un pensiero aperto. Un abbraccio aperto.
Credo che i rituali siano importanti perchè ci riconnettono con gli elementi naturali (fuoco, terra, aria, acqua) e quindi con la nostra anima e la nostra parte più saggia e profonda.
Ricetta per un ritualino: vai nella natura, scrivi e brucia il vecchio che devi lasciare andare, lascia andare le ceneri nella natura, respira! Fai il vuoto e crea arte o quasiarte. Scrivi, dipingi, canta, suona, danza, fai un collage, un mandala, con le tue parole chiave per il nuovo anno e libera tutto nella natura. Così, per diventare più autentici e selvaggi. E perchè cambiare è divertente.
Poi il pimo dell’anno sono andata al concerto di Daniela Mercury e…gulp! Una bestia! Un’artista mostrousa, immensa!
Ne ho di strada artistica ancora da fare…sigh!
